Tatiana ("Tati") Renée McIntosh
"Tatiana" is a Russian name meaning "Fairy Queen". Tatiana was named after her mother, whose name is "Tanya", a pet of the name Tatiana- popularized by the mythical character "Titania" of a Midsummer NightÕs Dream.
Tati was born at Georgia Baptist Hospital , in Atlanta , Georgia on October 22, 1987. She attended preschool at Alpha Academy in Decatur , Georgia , until she moved to Jamaica where she attended Sts. Peter and Paul Preparatory School for a year. In 1994 she relocated with her mother to Florida , where she attended Sea Castle Elementary School in Miramar . In 1997, Tati graduated Sea Castle and moved on to Pines Middle School in Pembroke Pines . In 1999, she and her family moved to Southwest Ranches where she then attended Tequesta Trace Middle School in Weston. Tati remained at Tequesta Trace for a year, until the new Falcon Cove Elementary was opened and she was transferred. On graduating Falcon Cove, she moved on to Western High School , and when the new Cypress Bay High School was opened she was transferred again. Tati graduated Cypress Bay in 2005, and was accepted to the University of Florida , Gainesville where she had been for the last two years, enrolled in the college of Journalism , majoring in Advertising.
Tati is the eldest of three daughters for her mother, Tanya N. (Williams) Ragbeer, a Bank Manager for BankUnited, and an only child for her father, Dr. Peter M. McIntosh, of the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville . Tati lived with her mother, step-father Cary Ragbeer and two sisters Natassjia (11) and Katrina (8 1/2). Tati also has a step-mother Denise Sloley-McIntosh Airport Manager for Air Jamaica in Orlando , and step-sister Rachel Chen. Her living grandparents include Mr. G. Roy Williams, retired Chartered Accountant, Mrs. Thelma Williams, retired Deputy Executive Director of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, both of Kingston Jamaica ; and step-grand parents Dr. & Mrs. Mohan Ragbeer, and Mr. Byron Parkin and Mrs. Carol (Brown-Ragbeer) Parkin. Tati is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Tati was a very passionate person she always saw the benefit of being involved, and willingly gave her time to the things that she felt passionate about. She involved herself in many civic activities related to Caribbean and other interests from a very young age. As a baby, she attended her first Atlanta Carnival in a stroller, dressed in costume. By the age of three, she wore her costume in the Atlanta Õs Kiddie Carnival, and participated in the adult Carnival parade. During the short time that she lived in Jamaica , she also participated in the Jamaica Kiddie Carnival. She had been a key participant of Carnival ever since. She was a member of the Major Players Mas Band in the Broward Caribbean Carnival, she played mass in the Miami Carnival, and was a Queen for the Reggalypso Band in Atlanta Peach Caribbean Carnival. Tati participated in the Miss Miami Carnival Queen Pageant, and the Miss Broward Caribbean Carnival Queen Pageant, where she placed first runner up in both. She also was involved in many Greater Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) Youth activities including the hurricane relief activities, UNIFEST parade and volunteer activities, Installation flag ceremony, to name a few.
In school, Tati was also very involved in her campus life. By Middle school, she was a Peer Counselor, was involved in the Drama Club, the Year Book Club, and was on the Track Team. When she moved on to high school she involved herself in DECA, Business Professionals of America, the WISE Student Internship Program, and was the founding President of the Caribbean Students Association of Cypress Bay High School. She was a Ventures Scholar, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and was elected to represent the State of Florida in the 2004 National Student Leadership Conference. For extra-curricular, she was a graduate of the John CasablancaÕs Modeling School, studied and played the piano, sang, danced, played tennis, and loved to ride horses.
In college, Tati was the recipient of UFÕs Presidential Scholarship, for her outstanding volunteerism, the Mayo Clinic Family Scholarship, and the Bright Futures Scholarship, for her academic achievement. She was a member of FACES Modeling Troupe, Deco Modeling Troupe, UF Advertising Society, MINAMBA-Minority Ambassadors, CHAMPS (Collegiates Helping as Mentors in Public Schools), and the Hispanic Students Association, where she danced competitively with their Savor Latinas dance troupe, and worked part-time on campus for the Florida Repdials.
Tati was well loved by everyone that knew her. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. We will miss her dearly and she will be in our hearts forever.
